The Literacy and Arithmetic of Life

The politics of Nation prides on the literacy of its people based on  comprehending the alphabets A, B, C, D, E, F, G ...and counting numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. or  the Arithmetic of Life.
The Religious Guru ( गुरू ), Mullah ( मुल्लाह ) or a Preacher is a teacher of the pulpit that narrates and advises about the ways and means of attaining a higher level of conscious awareness . However , Sadguru  ( सद्गुरु ) is a living source that constantly supports and blesses our individual specific presence to experience our own immutable and eternal self identity.
Realisation is the intuitive Grace that instantly condenses within ourselves as a pure Dewdrop of universal conscious awareness. Realisation is not about magic or miracle for chasing a mirage for quenching thirst or an intellectual pursuit. This seems to be the latent message of timelessly available Sadguru ( सद्गुरु ).
One of our childhood prank modified for today sings like this:
“ A, B, C, D, E, F, G
Did not realise in the innocence of childhood, that a childhood prank transforms itself into the Literacy of Life.
The Literacy of Life stems only from within because it is the realisation of completeness from within ourselves. It behooves to repeat that Pilgrimage is a stepless journey within the silence of our conscious awareness. It may be termed Meditation, although it is wordless.

The Dog and his Master

A Dog always knows and is aware of his Master and stays unlinchiglly loyal to him . The Dog’s Master may not comprehend the unquestioned  loyalty  of his Dog. For the Dog, there is only one supreme Master while the rest are friendly relationships. It is not an accident that Dog spelled backwards is God’s Love in action.

A Dog nay chew away shoes but never disheartens his Master.

Prayer  - The Silent Music of Life  ----
Prayer is not Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian,  Jewish, Sikh, Jain  or any other faith. It is the silent music of Life within us.
Total self submission through unconditional prayer makes us available to the silent universal wisdom within us, Through this wisdom we emerge as a physicality and ultimately merge back into it as non-physicality.
It seems easier for the innocence of childhood to bow and surrender in prayer. It gets harder for adulthood to surrender as the burden of growing ego makes us more rigid. The ego factor dampens the ever present silent music of life within us.
In order to maintain and enhance the self enriching music of life  audible within ourselves, we try to embrace Yoga and Meditation. The innocence of childhood ever present  within each one of us assists in uniting us with our Source that is ever present within ourselves.
Today, 26 January 2017, marks the Republic Day of *India and its latent solidarity under one flag proclaiming:

“ Truth alone Triumphs - सत्यमेव जयते “

FOUR CASTES -

FOUR CASTES -

PADMAKAR GANPATRAO TIKEKAR -

PADMAKAR GANPATRAO  TIKEKAR -

21 Jan. 2017

--------------------

Today the absence of Padmakar from amongst us is causing excruciating pain of emptiness. It is especially so for Padmakar's immediate family including Manoj, Chetan, Shilpa and Co.

In such moments, all intellectualization of life ceases in face of the reality of constant change. Each one of us, a throbbing member of the larger Tikekar Parivar, is missing Padmakar in individual specific ways, while Padmakar seems to be freely detached from any earthly baggage and bondage of emotional attachments.

Kamu and I were probably of identical age and Padmakar about two years younger. During our teens, Padmakar and I attended Yogasan classes conducted by Shri Janardan Swami’ in the open Verandah of the Normal High School in Bardi adjacent to the railway lines. Therefore Padmakara memory is inalienably tied in our daily Yoga and Pranayam exercises and equally so,  in our mutual childhood memories under the self enriching roofs of the Tikekar and Nakhare bungalows linked with the Tikekar road. Sweet memories of the past cause pain in the present. That is Life, it is the duality and reality of existence in the Ocean of constant change.

Padmakar was the last living offspring of Dadda ( Ganpatrao Tikekar ) and Mai. Their children were Ananda, Kamalakar, Padmakar and Sudhakar. Besides them, Dadda’s children from his first marriage were Indu,Sadu and Babu, All of the above have now been embraced by timeless tine. Today we pay our homage to all of them with a sense of gratitude that they were and will continue to be a part and parcel of our remaining lives. This is also a moment for our passionate remembrance of Dadda ( Ganpatrao ) Tikekar and his self enriching joint family legacy. Those of us who are currently in our Eighties are living witness to the legacy. Under the protective umbrella of the Tikekar Bungalow several closely related family units were simultaneously nurtured and bloomed to seek their own eventual independence. From my childhood personal relationships and memories with the Tikekar joint family enterprise included the presence of Indu Maosh, Sadu Mama,( with Nela Mami and Ashok ), Babu Mama. Badibai ( with Manya Mama and Dinkar Mama along with Vimal Mami and Ashok ), Shankar Mama ( with Sindhu, Brahma, Vasat, and Manda ) , Bhaskar Mama ( with Indira Mami, Dattu and Vinu ), Under a single seamless roof and a common kitchen, each member of the joint family has been the recipient of the basic Literacy of Life.. By virtue of our maternal Grandmother, Mothi Aii, being Dadda’s younger sister, we five Deo siblings were also enriched by the Tikekar legacy. For that core reason, I am personally and eternally grateful.

Just like Padmakar, I have remained as the last survivor amongst us five Deo siblings. Our sister Sarojini had the privilege of being born in the Tikekar Bungalow. Consequently, our connection with the Tikekar legacy goes far deeper than the foundation of the Tikekar bungalow.

Nithin, son of Ananda and Suhas, has eloquently covered the golden legacy of  his entrepreneurial G-Father Dadda ( Ganpatrao Tikekar )  in his published book. Starting his career as a laborer manually breaking down quarry stones with a hammer for the Railways, Dadda flourished as an independent contractor for the Central Railways to lay down several miles of train tracks and eventually built the two large bridges in Nagpur city spanning over Ajani and Sitabuldi Railway Stations. In addition he was a builder along with tyo friends namely Ladda Babu and Premji Babu. The spacious residential houses built by them including their own residences are easily identifiable from their simple and elegant architecture. Dadda  crowned his career as a generous Philanthropist and an Independence fighter along with Mai during the British Raj.

An old cherished photograph of our maternal Grandfather, Bhaiya ( Dr. Purushottam Ganesh Nakhare ) watching Mahatma Gandhi stepping out of the Tikekar Bungalow to attend the Indian National Congress Committee meeting held in Congress Nagar during the Nineteen Thirties bears witness to the precious Tikekar enterprises. An enlarged photograph of the incident described above hangs in Nitin’s living room. Hopefully, this narration will enable our younger generations to visualize as well as smell the fragrance of Tikekar spirit of sharing and serving selflessly as exemplified by Dadda ( Ganpatrao Tikekar ).

In the demise of Padmakar this week and our personal experiences with Life so far,:  It feels that in the physicality of death “ Life is in constant pursuit of total freedom from the dualities of existence“.

मृत्युन्जय  आणि  श्राद्ध पूजा ;

Our innate silent conviction prompts that Padmakar is now at peace in the flora and and fauna of conscious awareness. It is the शांती वन, devoid of any physicality.

The traditional and meaningful religious rituality feels very desirable for stabilising  the minds and throbbing hearts of the living relationships that Padmakar has left behind unintentionally in pursuit of  his onward journey of self transformation.

Trumpeting the Presence

Trumpeting the Presence
A democratically elected 45th President will assume office of the Presidency of the United States of America on 20th January, 2017. The nation extends a hearty welcome aboard Mr. Donald Trump.
The famous White House on the Pennsylvania Avenue in   Washington, D. C. is ready to receive you on behalf of the citizenry  of US whom you have committed to serve while upholding the laws of the land laid down on paper by its founding fathers as the Constitution of the United States.
The White House welcomes its new presidential resident as Red blooded and not as male or female, and not white nor black skinned. Anyone that recognises an individual only by the color of its skin can only be a butcher of consciousness.
The White House admits its new resident conditionally for a term of four years during which it constantly monitors the political and moral compass of its resident, The resident of the White House is expected to serve the interests of the poorest of the poor, as well as the richest of the rich and also the entire population in between with appeasement of none. That is a tough call and no one has ever said that it is easy.
It is irrelevant whether the outside colors of the Presidency are politically correct or incorrect, However, its inside color must of necessity reflect simplicity, honesty, humility, and compassion for all. The spirit of the deep blue sky above overlooking the entire humanity is constant witness. The spirit of the deep blue sky is eternally unfathomable and indivisible, revealing itself only as an inner experience.

The Main Stream of Life

15 Jan. 2017

The Main Stream of Life

Image - Chitrakoot falls, Bastar District, Chattisgarh, India.

In between the symbolic
real estates named Heaven and Hell is planet Earth, which presents the reality of existence for Earthlings. The Earth’s inhabitants including humans and all other living species is one of God’s self fulfilling expression of itself. It is like a droplet separating away from the waterfall, bouncing around in air for some period of time and then rejoining the mainstream. Similarly, life on planet Earth seems to be an integral part of the eternal stream identified by humans with different expressions such as God, Allah, Shri and several others, while each one of them representing an identical idea.
Our unconditional submission or surrender to the main stream of life, which may be referred to as spirituality, is not what we aspire to achieve; rather It happens effortlessly at the opportune moment just as the droplet separated from the waterfall rejoins the main stream.
For the humans with constant monkey inside the mind, the time proven techniques of meditation and yoga are essentially inner self disciplines for rejoining the main stream of life.

The Language of Silence -

08 January, 2017
The Language of Silence -
Different languages complement each other in enhancing the quality of human experiences.
Silence is an inaudible language on its own. In order to decipher it, humans use meditation complemented with proper Yogic breathing techniques identified as Pranayam ( प्राणायाम ). It helps quieten the Monkey-mind ever riding on the shoulders.
In the depths of  the Oceans and the unfathomable expanse of the  blue Sky above exists an indescribable silence in which resides the all inclusive Cosmic wisdom. This wisdom cannot be captured by any human language or any sacred book scripted by humans. For lack of expression, some refer to the wisdom as God, whereas others experience it as Consciousness. Both references  are right because universal wisdom is an individual specific inner experience.

Language used for self expression invariably splits us at individual specific levels of duality, whereas Silence is a medium that makes us complete into our universal consciousness. Every life on planet Earth constantly thirsts for it. The insatiable thirst for becoming complete is eventually quenched through mediums of self transformation including living experiences, Grace or सदगुरु कृपा which seem like inseparable from each other.

Satsang, Sanskrit, Sanskriti and Seeker /

07 Jan, 2017

--------------------------------------------------------

Each language has a beauty of its own for articulation of thoughts. There is no Mother tongue ( मातृ भाषा ) that is superior or inferior, cultured or uncultured because it is soaked up effortlessly from the sole source, our Mother ( जन्म जननी ) . In the same sense, there is no inferior religion or a superior God, because both are individual specific inner realisations. Comparing personal God or religion is shattering the very spirit of faith in ourselves. Conversion from one religion to another is juvenile self ignorance akin to exchanging your natural Mother. God and religion are not patentable ideas for making deals.

Words are simply integration of sounds that acquire meaning in individual specific comprehension. Om ( a, u, m ) which is symbolised as ॐ and Amen generate reverberations that serve the purpose of elevating conscious awareness. Uttering these sounds do not make you a Hindu or a Christian. A large copper bell or gong produces similar sounds in a temple or church, In a similar sense, the essential spirit of a prayer does not spell a religion; it is simply an unconditional submission to the all inclusive cosmic consciousness.

A word such as God, Spirituality, Heaven and Hell bears no meaning unless it is in our direct experience. The sound of the word Mother ( माँ ) is always a direct experience that needs no interpretation.

Following is an effort to provide self fulfilling meaning to some commonly heard Sanskrit words :

  • Satsang ( सत्संग ) - implies an association with self enriching thoughts.
  • Sanskrit ( संस्कृत ) - is a language cultured purely out of
the flora and fauna of the Indian subcontinent. It is a Mother of several sublanguages.
  • Sanskriti ( संस्कृती ) - implies nurturing a state of equanimity for maximising the potential capabilities and possibilities of an individual.
  • Seeker  ( साधना करनेवाला साधक ) - is a devotee that is not in search of God or the promised land named Heaven; instead it is about optimising individual potential in a state of equanimity. It is not an intellectual pursuit.
  • God ( श्री ) - is that which does not change, ever. When we try to define it, we confine it with our ignorance. Consequently,
that which changes constantly, such as matter and life, is an illusion ( माया ); it is perception of the perceiver.

A religious Preacher such as a Christian Bishop, Islamic Mulla, Hindu Pundit or a Jewish Rabbi may stand on a self presumptuous pulpit of bookish knowledge and proclaim about God, Heaven and Hell that is not in his/her direct experience. Where as a self-enlightened Master ( सद्गगुरु ) serves as a facilitating medium that provides nurturing for a Seeker to innately experience God consciousness ( आत्मबोध ). Eye opening life experiences also serve as self enlightening mediums ( सद्गगुरु ). Consciousness ( चेतना ) is about realising our natural Self, which is without a beginning nor an end. Realisation is a stepless journey within ourselves.

Mind is like a Monkey constantly sitting on our shoulders.  Silencing of the mind and thought seems to be an art and science for self enriching life.  The faculty of imbibing art and music seems to silence the mind for attaining a balance or equanimity in life.

Note - The above train of thoughts is a condensation from self enlightened Masters.
